San Jose Rings Rattlers Necks

Photos & Story By: Kevin Pakos for S&E News

What's a Guy supposed to do?

He planned, prepared, coached and led his team as if they could win against a Championship team. Heck, last year he helped San Jose become a Championship team and to get another ring. But at the end of the night in Cali he was winless and ringless as he prepared for the long trip back into the desert with his Snakebit crew. The Sabercats just finished putting a good old fashioned 63-43 whupping on their former young assistant coach.

According to the Rattlers release Coach Guy had this to say: "I think we're getting closer," said Rattler Head Coach Kevin Guy after the game. "It takes time to build chemistry with a young offense, and doesn't help when don't have the same guys in the lineup from week to week. But I'm proud of our team. We could have very easily folded up tent at the half. But we came back and fought. We are getting closer and closer and growing as a team."

Watching the game from Phoenix it was clear that the squad is getting better. The question is; will it come together in time. This week the Rattlers got some stops, forced some field goals and had some INT's. But this game is all about offense and scoring each time they have the ball.

Rattler FB/LB Asi Faoa did some damage and had a big game scoring a couple of touchdowns. One was a 23 yard run on a screen pass. (can you have a screen pass on a field no wider then a hall closet?)

This team needs help at the QB spot, timing is not something a coach can do from the bench. The Rattlers are capable of turning things around, the talent is nearly all there. Also helping their cause is the LA loss to the Force. Just when things looked like they were going sideways, the big gun (Sonny Cumbie) from the West Coast got blown up.

Coach Guy and his staff is good, aggressive and hungry. On game day in Phoenix last week he was twice as hungry, good thing he had some cash on him or he and his staff would have gone without a pre-game meal.

One final thought on the new Rattler HC. AZ has found their Guy, stick with him, support him, feed him on game day please and he will make the fans in Phoenix proud. Then maybe we can bring back the loud....
