Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Mesa College Thunderbirds

This was to be a big night, one in a hundred you might say. It was homecoming, dignitaries from the schools past were on hand. Former players and they were there to honor head coach Joe Kersting as he played for his 100th win. Not just any homecoming foe either. It was Mesa CC, the Thunderbirds, longtime arch-rival and often spoiler of Gaucho dreams. Mesa is not having the year they expected. With a surplus of players in preseason the T-Birds really thought this would be a Bowl game kinda year. GCC had only one team left to beat to secure the VSB game in November. Yep, it is Mesa. The game started like expected with the larger, faster Gaucho big boys having their way with MCC. It looked like it might be easy. Then players for GCC got to thinking. Not a good thing that for a team and a coaching staff that prides itself on preparation and execution. The Gaucho players make their mark by letting the coaches do the thinking and they do the reacting and hitting. To make what was to be a short story, long, then short again. Let's just say that when it was done, in overtime, the Gauchos had a 40-37 win. Mesa gets the loss but GCC is now stuck with getting past a game that the players, at least after the first drive, started looking past a team that was on the field with them. Now they must play a revived NMMI squad that dropped a bomb on EAC and is in full alert for the Gaucho game. The Broncos will host Glendale. Let's hope it is not a cold day in New Mexico and that the Broncos don't accidentally turn off the heat in the visitors locker room while turning up the heat on the field. You know what they say, "There is no hometown like our hometown."
Congrats to Mr. 100 and the Black and Red for their win.
