Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Vandals Shredded by Wildcats

On field, in the deep, dark reaches of the Sonoran Desert Under skies spitting lighting pushing the game to the midnight hour. The gathered throng was screaming, chanting, cheering. Two villages separated by great distance went to battle, the prize? The right to start the quest for a title and to earn fame and their people’s adulation and praise.

After a long night of starts and stops the contest was finally over, the Vandals from Idaho must now return home, defeated, crushed and destroyed. They will in fact have their beloved logo, the "I" for Idaho ripped from the backside of their uniforms when they return home.

The stadium they went to battle in was storied and rich with tradition of battles and heroes long gone. On this night they came through storm as victors, warriors worthy to fight on for glory and the elusive “Bowl Game” they so desire…. Hungry, frustrated and ready were the University Wildcats. Over the past few years they have not asked for mercy, they fought valiantly no matter the challenge.

On this night they rose up and devoured the invaders. They Stooped to a new high for the Wildcats. It was the first time since 1996 when another team sporting a big “I” came to town and the Cats shut them out 41-0 nothing on this very same field.

On this night in 2008 the Wildcats clawed their through the Vandals for a 70-0 victory. In the process they set records for points in a single quarter with 35. Most points in a half with 49. It was in fact the third highest total in school history.

This victory was well deserved and will, the UA hopes be a benchmark for exceptional performance on a team in need of a great season. Next up for the Wildcats will be the Toledo Rockets in Tucson.
