Game Two Western 0 - Phoenix 25
The Matadors were in a close game at Phoenix College. How close? Look at the photo to the right. Yep. This happened near the end of the half with PC leading 3-0. After this incompletion, then having their field goal try blocked by the Bears. AWC watched as PC took it downfield and with no time on the clock PC's Adnan Kljajic made his 46 yard field goal to send PC to the locker room leading 6-0. The Matadors had chances and their defense kept the Bears un-huddle** in check most of the night. Defense was the story for both teams as well.
The third quarter was scoreless. The fourth quarter was the Bears Josh Schlueter Show as he ran for two touchdowns and threw for one to secure the win for Phoenix. He had a 14 yard run, a 12 yard run and tossed one to Isaiah Norris for 3 yards. But the big plays for the Bears came from defensive back Reno Blomquist, he actually forced two turnovers and returned one 91 yards. PC lost two fumbles of it's own but AWC did not convert. The only significant toss that AWC had on the night was when the ref's tossed AWC wideout James Lewis in the first half.

The Matadors rotated QB's with Zach Appenzeller starting the game and handling the first two drives. Then he gave way to Chris Keyes who ran the team from the first and fourth quarter. Then he went to receiver and Zach Appenzeller finished the last three AWC drives.

Some stats and notes: This was Phoenix's first win since their game last year in Tucson when they beat Pima 55-30. It was AWC RB Kenneth Faumui’s 1st start at RB (rotated with Kimo Leung-Choi)

**Un-Huddle: this is the cousin to a "no huddle" offense. In a no huddle offense the goal is to keep the defense from making player changes, adjustments and to force players used to having breaks and rest between plays to become exhausted and fatigued. This often results in big plays due to mismatches and mistakes as a tired defense tries to get into position to make the play. The Un-Huddle is what you get when the offense is forced to play without any breaks or huddles for communication. Often the offense is the one that gets tired and worn out in the Un-Huddle. Players must wait for the play call and at the same time try and focus on the defense to get pre-snap reads. This results in the offense taking time outs or take 5 yard delay penalties. Defenses actually love the Un-Huddle because they understand that the offensive players often don't get the right information in time and they get a full 25 second rest on defense.
