Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Lumberjacks Chopped Down By Devils

It was a hot night and 62,000 ASU fans made it hotter when their team burst out of the tunnel to take the field. In the past, NAU had managed to make the games exciting by creating turnovers on defense and by ripping off big plays to keep ASU reacting instead of attacking. This game however, was over by the end of the first quarter. The score was only 10 to nothing for ASU but the night was done and all could see that this Sun Devil squad was squared away as never before in game one.

When it finally ended the Jacks did score on ASU’s reserves to make the game look respectable and salvage some pride in the 30-13 ASU win. NAU QB Lance Kriesien showed his amazing athletic ability and tossed a TD pass to Brian Riley while Mr. Dependable Robbie Dehaze kicked two field goals and added an extra point.

ASU RB Dimitri Nance score two TD’s on the ground and Kerry Taylor hauled in a TD pass from Carpenter while ASU kicker Thomas Weber was good on three field goals and three PAT’s. This game is set up to give ASU a solid prep game early in the season and even tho NAU does not expect to win. They do expect to become a better team with this matchup. The exposure for the program is also a plus. While NAU Football plays one notch below the Sun Devils the rest of NAU sports ALL play at the same D-1 level. NAU is currently building new facilities for all the other sports and are always placing teams and athletes in the elite ranks of the NCAA.
