Future Speak
by: Kevin Pakos
Not since Jules Verne and his then "eccentric" science fiction
has the world faced it's own fate with such a clear future
described to them.
To see a picture of the world we are about
to become. Watch the 1975 movie Rollerball with James Caan
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073631/. The corporate world, one
where all knowledge is kept online and only available to the
ruling corporations. You will recognize some of the
social/political landscape. Don't bother with the 2002 version
of Rollerball, instead, you might find better acting on Saturday
mornings with the Power Rangers.
Then if you really feel like trippin' check
out Logans Run 1976 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/ and
Soylent Green 1973. http://finnish.imdb.com/title/tt0070723/
Don't laugh, sometime in the future when you are having "auntie"
for dinner, she will be the main course. Relax, it is not like
you will even know she is a guest at the table. Everyone in the
US is of course aware of the nations where sushi is people.
No, really, there are those from some
nations that have no problem whacking off a piece of flesh from
a person, eating it raw and tossing them in a ditch. How do we
know? Because some of them survived and told us. Yep, gross but
true. Of course the media jumps right on those stories.
OK, sort of strange. Let's face it tho, so
many in America agree that there are too many people on the
planet. That is why it makes sense that the International
government sponsors corporations that take seed plants and
crops, then create "terminator seeds" that will never grow a new
one. Can't grow food, less people, problem solved.
Wow, is this getting dark or what? Check
out the movies mentioned here. You may be surprised how much of
what is in those decades old flicks is in play right now today.
Then, let me know what you think.
Oh, regarding the movie "Avatar" Seriously,
it is not about the future it is just a propaganda piece for the
current movers and shakers. Heck, it is not even original.
Disney did better work in the 1930's. So, no, Avatar has nothing
to offer Future Speak except the exploitation of the churning
masses seeking a better world by saving trees and getting rid of
the stupid humans... yech, did I say that. Yep.
Critically yours, the Movie Fan,
K-P@K, Kevin Pakos
